Blind Dog and Companion Find a Forever Home

INCLINE VILLAGE, NV — After a short stay and rehabilitation at Pet Network Humane Society, Honey and Buddy were adopted together on Aug. 27 and are now enjoying their forever home in Minden. Honey, a 14-year-old Dachshund blinded due to neglect, and her guide dog Buddy, had to be adopted together because of their unique situation. Luckily, Sarah Anderson, a veterinary assistant, was willing to take the pair into her home. Sarah’s dog recently passed away and she was looking for another forever companion when she came across Buddy on Pet Network’s website.

“I was happy to rescue both of them; it was totally understandable that they needed to be together,” Sarah said. “I wanted to give them a good home. They deserved a second chance.”

Sarah reports that both dogs are acclimating well to their new home and yard, and are thriving with all the love and attention.

Pet Network rescued Honey and Buddy from Lassen County Animal Shelter after they were confiscated from a severe home environment. They were at the Lassen facility for 40 days and came to Pet Network on July 7, where Honey underwent eye surgery. While there was considerable interest and concern for both Honey and Buddy, it took some time to find a home where both dogs could thrive together.

“We are thrilled that Honey and Buddy get a fresh start with Sarah,” said Heidi Todd, Pet Network’s Shelter Manager.

Pet Network Humane Society has other dogs and cats needing a forever home. If you are looking to adopt, please go to our website at www.petnetwork.org or visit us at 401 Village Blvd. in Incline Village, Nev.
